With this post, I wanted to re-visit my TV career/Hollywood exploits one more time. This part of my zany life continues to develop as well in 2011. As you all know from recent posts, I was selected to be on the GSN game show ‘1 vs 100’ in late 2010. This was my first time on TV & I had so much fun. My episodes aired for 2 nights!! December 19th & 20th, 2010. I just checked their website and found that they have posted my 2 episodes online!

I just skimmed thru the first one: 1 vs 100 episode 19 and it completely cracked me up to see myself on TV and getting to relive that wonderful experience. When I was taping, my mind was so focus on the instructions the Producers gave me, the game rules and getting answers right, that I really didn’t get to “be in the moment”. I was totally calm and COMPLETELY Sheila K. Brown with my personality as you will see if you check out the videos below. I’m freaking hilarious!!! Enjoy!

Anyway, as you can tell from my most recent blog post, there was “DRAMA” regarding a previous post I put up that simply outlined my most recent television show exploits. It seems that in my own very detailed way, I talked about details about my most recent show I was cast for and the Producers were none too happy about it. It seems that my post was picked up by this site: iTricks Magic News and they linked to my site which gave up “top secret” details about said show. Oops!! LOL I am a bit salty about having to take down the post as I updated everyone on the other TV shows I have been cast in. I’ll take a minute to update you all now on what else is occuring in my budding TV career (I’ve auditioned for 3 shows and have landed all three!!) and spill the beans on yet another life-changing & fun new adventure I’ve decided to embark on.

TV Show #1 final update: As you all know, back in August, I auditioned for & was selected to be a part of the testimonial cast for Billy Blanks new informercial for his incredible new fitness product that will launch in January 2011. I trained for 10 weeks, 5 days a week with Billy and the other members of the cast and based on the weight loss results of the cast during those 10 weeks of working out and dieting intensly, they would choose the final people that would make it into the infomercial that will begin airing in January 2011. The good news: I am happy to report that I had good results (lost 17.4lbs, 10% body fat, 19 inches and 4 sizes), but there were others that lost in the 25-30lb range and had mega awesome results. The bad news: I am sad to report that my results were not substantial enough to allow me to make it into the final infomercial. They videotaped those that were selected giving their testimonials a few weeks ago and I was not selected . Interestingly enough, I am not saddened or upset by this news. The fact that my fat, disgusting “before” picture will not be splashed on TV screens all over the world is more than OK with me. I embarked on that journey as I do with everything else I do STRICTLY for the experience. It was a life altering experience getting to know Billy, train with him and most importantly, absorb his INCREDIBLE words of wisdom and support. Kudos and congratulations to my fellow castmates that had the awesome results they did and will be an inspiration to people all over the world due to their hard work and great results!!

TV Show #2 final update: My Game show finally has an airdate!! I auditioned for and landed a part on the Gameshow Network’s revived version of ’1 vs 100′ gameshow back in July. I taped my episode on August 18th at Parmount Studios. The new shows started airing on November 15th, 2010 and I got an email from the network letting me know that my episode will air on December 9th & December 10th, 2010 on the GameShow Network at 7:00pm PST!! My segment could appear on either of those days depending on where they put me. I’m nervous about this one! This is my first time on TV and I have no idea how I will look or sound or anything. I do know that I had a ball taping with the host, Carrie Ann Inaba (Dancing with the Stars judge)! Here is a promo video from the network that outlines the look and feel of the show. TV Show #3: The above mentioned drama filled show experience in which I was selected be a part of the cast, however, due to situations I am conractually forbidden to discuss, I did not get to shoot. Grrrrrrr…..

Potential TV Show #4: I have a big audition this week for an upcoming show that I am REALLY EXCITED about. If I am cast, I will actually be an “actress” and not me just being Sheila. And it pays well too!!! Whoo Hoo!! I’ll keep you posted!

So after kind of falling into this TV/acting thing and suddenly having tons of actor friends in my life, I have made the decision to actually pursue acting as a vocation/hobby and go thru formalized training for it. Since I have decided to move back to Los Angeles, at least until early summer 2011, I may as well. After living here for 10 years prior and working in the Entertainment industry for almost every major movie studio as a Consultant, I never had one bit of interest in being in front of the camera. It is truly not one bit glamorous as you would think it is. It is actually a lot of “hurry up and wait”. My interest now comes from my desire to come out of my shell and be a Brand of some sort. I have a strong desire to be a travel show host or to be a riduculously famous Star in a foreign country but be totally unknown here in the States. My acting vision does not lie in me landing the part of “XYZ” on “XYZ” show. I would really love to do tons of commercials (residual income baby!!) or voice-over work. I want to do work where I either do a job once and get paid over and over for it or work that I can do remotely (ala voice-over work). I’ll spend early 2011 in acting classes, getting head shots, losing tons of weight, finding an agent/manager and working on getting into SAG mixed with Consulting work to pay for it all. I have no idea where this new interest will take me and I am only in it for the experience of it as of now. I will still do my internet marketing work as it is still my very real plan to travel the world in 2011 – 2012 as a Digital Nomad completely supporting myself with my online businesses. I love being free to pursue my diverse Passions! Very Grateful indeed!

I just received a call from one of the Producers who was not too happy with me and very quickly pointed out that I did sign an NDA agreement saying that I would not talk about the name of the show or post any details in a public forum such as my lil ol’ blog! I do typically read such things, but as with all things in Hollywood, it’s “hurry up and sign this little innocuous piece of paper”, I did not do my due diligence and read every line. Shame on me. He requested that I remove the offending post immediately! As I did not put up the post to harm the show or anyone involved with the show and said Producer is cute as hell, I complied and removed it immediately. I do want to apologize if my post caused any harm at all. That was definitely not my intention. Sorry . I guess I won’t be asked to appear in any future episodes! LOL

This year was pretty awesome! Usually my birthdays are low keyy with time spent with my core set of 4-8 Los Angeles Girlfriends. If I happen to have a boyfriend, then it’s usually dinner. This year was a bit different. I made the trek from San Diego up to LA for the weekend to stay with my Girlfriend Roz & party with my friends. Highlights of the weekend: Friday night was spent completely indulging in a soul food meal of fried chicken/greens/mac&cheese/rice & gravy & cornbread! Yummy!! Saturday, I went to see the amazing movie ‘For Colored Girls‘ by Tyler Perry and I went to 3 parties with girlfriends. The movie was absolutely INCREDIBLE! One of the best movies I have ever seen!

Sunday was spent waiting around all day on a television set while waiting to film a show that will air on the Discovery Channel. I’ll detail that in my next post. Definitely didn’t go the way I expected it to.

I am most Grateful for all of the Facebook Love I received from my many FB Friends. There were pages and pages of Happy Birthday wishes. I’m really glad that I was thought of. It truly meant a lot. Thanks guys! For those of you that I am not Facebook connected to, friend me: www.facebook.com…

The last time we “talked”, I posted my first attempt at video blogging and asked you all for your opinions. The overwhelming consensus was that you liked hearing my voice and seeing me. It made it easier to feel connected. Also, some thought it was too long. Duly noted. I do want to do more video posts in the future, but I only feel comfy doing them when I’ve done my hair and makeup. Since I have turned into a no-maintenance woman that virtually never wears makeup or does her hair, they will be fewer and far between. I will work on it though.

So, I’ve received a few emails asking me to start posting again and checking in to see what happened to my travel plans I had penciled in for the summer. You’ll be happy to know that I am returning to posting regularly again. Since I’m not traveling to anywhere exotic until early 2011, it became challenging to post to a blog touting the ‘Exploits of a Single African American Woman Traveling the World’. So, if I have not been traveling, how have I been spending my time?? Well, let me tell you.
I came to LA from Austin on May 14th of this year with the idea of staying a few weeks to liquidate the remainder of my assets and to spend time with my Friends that I so dearly missed in LA. I decided to stay with my BFF Barbi in Orange County while out here. I was then going to travel to Montana for a few weeks to spend time w/my Girlfriend Athena. After Montana, I was going to drive around Canada for a Month before heading to Australia in September for a seminar. I planned on kicking around OZ & New Zealand until early November and then head back to the US to travel in Missouri & Texas till January. Needless to say, those plans got scrapped. After being here for 3 weeks, I was enjoying the beautiful, cool LA weather & my friends so much that I decided to extend my stay for a few months. Also, as I visualized traveling to the places that I mentioned above, I found that I completely had no desire to travel and the Universe was telling me to stay put. I do what I’m told! I am extremely Grateful for the fact that my BFF Barbi has so overwhelmingly graciously allowed me to live with her all this time. There are no words for how much I Love and Appreciate her and her incredible Friendship.

Since I’ve been out here, I’ve taken some much needed time to relax, recalibrate, recharge, re-frame, reignite, relate, release, refocus, rebel, renew and most importantly REST! It’s been a long 2 years of me having to come up with major solutions in my life and figure shit out by myself. I truly didn’t realize just how completely burned-out/exhausted/jaded/hurt/tired I had become. I’ve spent a ton of time reading some incredible self-development books that have gotten my mind right. From the old classic ‘Think and Grow Rich’, ‘Psycho-Cybernetics’, ‘The Master Key to Riches’, ‘Creative Visualization’, ‘Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway’, ‘The Energy of Money’, ‘The Four Hour Workweek’ (for the 100th time), ‘Speak and Grow Rich’, ‘The Art of Non-Conformity’, ‘Eat That Frog’, ‘Keys to Success’, ‘The Life Summit’, ‘The Eat Clean Diet’, ‘As a Man Thinketh’ and I have been journaling a ton too. All of this reading & meditating & resting has allowed me to become crystal clear about what my next big goals are that I’m going to pursue. It feels awesome to not be “stuck” any longer. Thank you God!

On the romance front, this summer has been a complete and total bust! I did meet and date one very nice boy, but it was short-lived. Too many differences, but he is an awesome person and Friend that taught me a lot about myself. I literally have zero energy or desire to even think about dating someone. As history has repeated itself over and over again, I’ve come to the very definitive conclusion that I am destined to be a complete and total failure in that part of my life. I’ve basically resigned myself to being alone for the rest of my life. I know that sounds dramatic, but it truly is what I know to be true. Sad and depressing as it is, oh well, what can ya do?

I’ve also been pursuing fun goals just for the hell of it. I have been on 3 auditions in LA and I have gotten all three gigs. The first one I landed was a spot in the cast of the upcoming Billy Blanks infomercial for his new, revolutionary fitness product. I’ve gained a ton of weight over the past 10 months (35lbs to be exact) and I am part of the Testimonial cast for the infomercial. We have to work out with Billy for 10 weeks, 5 days a week, follow a healthy eating plan and then get filmed talking about our incredible results. The final week is this week and we film on the 24th of October. It is not guaranteed that I will appear in the infomercial. I’ll be in it only if the Producers feel that my weight loss transformation is dramatic enough. I can say that in week 9, I am waaaaaay skinnier than when I started. The results thus far are extremely noticeable. I feel so fucking sexy as well. I still have 30lbs to go to reach my ultimate goal of being a lean, muscular size 6 Fitness Model, but I do look and feel good. I’ve given myself until May 2011 to reach my ultimate goal.

The 2nd fun thing I auditioned for was to be a contestant on the newly brought back game show, ’1 vs 100′. I auditioned on 8/18. While at the audition, I decided that they were going to choose me to be ‘The 1”. Sure enough, I filmed my episode on 10/15. I cannot disclose the outcome for contractual reasons, but I did have fun. The shows will start airing on The Game Show Network on November 15th, 2010. I do not have an exact air date for mine yet. I’ll keep you posted. The third thing I auditioned for was as a result of a connection via Billy B.’s agent. He connected me with a Producer in LA who called me in to discuss me being on a music show that is in development for Endemol. He had me do a screen test, which I totally kicked ass in. At this stage, he is working on getting the production company to sign off on funding the filming of a pilot. If that happens, I’ll film the pilot. Not holding my breath on that one. One thing I have discovered during my “Hollywood phase” is that I am so damn comfortable being in the spotlight and in front of cameras. I love it!! Weird considering how the “real me” is so damn shy and introverted.

We’ve also moved from Orange County to San Diego to a beautiful house a few blocks from the beach! Life here is absolutely INCREDIBLE!! Lots of happiness & pure Blissful Joy in this house!! Yay!!

Now that it is mid October, I’m spending my time preparing for my upcoming birthday on 11/7, landing more consulting clients to work with to build up my $$ reserves and working diligently on my big plans that I have set for myself for 2011. I’ll discuss those in detail in an upcoming post.

I was very recently informed about a contest that The Del Mar racetrack is having their 2nd annual Miss Cougar 2010 Contest. Of course, with me being the self-proclaimed ‘Queen of All Cougars’, I had to enter! I am now in 7th place and voting ends on Friday, July 23rd. Here is the link to vote for me – Contestant #12: . So how did I become a Cougar? Funny you should ask. Before turning 40 two years ago, I only dated older men. Not just older, but really old! I had MAJOR Daddy issues and only found men that were in their 60′s & 70′s to be attractive/sexy enough for me to date. In fact, one of the best relationships of my entire life was w/my boyfriend of over 6 years that was twice my age. At that time, I would have NEVER considered dating someone younger than me.

That all changed when I turned 40! I met my first “Cub” by chance in 2008. I went to a ski shop to buy an outfit for an upcoming ski trip and I was helped by an uber handsome young man. He was tall and FINE!! After focusing on me for about an hour, I finally found the right outfit. After he rang up my purchases & giving me a generous discount, he very confidently asked me for my phone number. I knew he was younger than me, but I had no idea how young. I immediately gave him my number and floated out of the store. When he called me, I asked him how old he was. I thought he was around 26. When he informed me that he was 20, I damn near died! I was twice his damn age…WTH!?!?!? I didn’t care. He was more confident and approached me in such a mature way and did I mention that he was FINE AS HELL!! Long story short, I was Very Happy to date him for the time we did. It was one of my most rewarding/fulfilling relationships ever. Ever since then, I have had an almost insatiable desire to date Cubs! My sweet spot age for my Cubs is 24 – 29. Reality, I typically tend to date guys that are 32. I love all men, but I love younger men! They have what it takes to keep up with me! LOL

Hollywood has definitely picked up on the trend. Anyone catch CougarTown on ABC? It is a top rated show for them starring Courtney Cox-Arquette. And who doesn’t know about Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher being happily married for several years!
